| CM871 smoke while engine braking So today I was hauling dirt off a job site with a long steep driveway and while I was going down the driveway I had the jakes on to hold me back. Jakes work fine mostly had them on the 1st and 2nd stage occasionally if I was loaded really heavy I would use the 3rd. Anyway I noticed that I could smell raw fuel and looked in the mirror and saw the truck was blowing white/blue smoke. So that's where the smell was coming from but what causes this? Could it be the truck idling for 20 ish minutes from getting loaded or is it still injecting fuel while I have the jakes on? Jakes sound normal and work the way they should. Thanks | |||

| RE: CM871 smoke while engine braking === Copy program out of it and have de-mandate program checked if its deleted. or all anyone knows, it might have cracked your cylinder head between valve seats, or caused injector damage, etc. === DO overhead valve adjustment to ensure everything set right .. then do injector leak test exactly like this post shows... info: https://rawze.com/forums/showthread.php?...8#pid67948 == It might also be wet-stacking due to valve guide seal leaks too. Only way to check for this is to crank truck when at room temp.. let it run for only about 1 minutes max, then shut it off .. let it cool .. then do this again a second time after 20 mins of cooling off,.. then another 60 seconds or so, then shut off... then pull exhaust manifold away from head and look to see if the exhaust valve(s) are wet with oil or fuel. If it is bad enough, then disconnecting the exhaust directly behind the turbo and holding a sheet of paper a couple inches away from exhaust stream to catch any spatters as exhaust gasses exits the turbo when it cranks up and starts to run can reveal wet stacking, etc. issues too.
