Interchangeability

2013 KW T800. My 600 ISX15 CM2350 is not running well and I have a freshly rebuilt 600 ISX15 CM2250 drop in out of a 2013 T800 available.
The truck isn’t mandated so my question is can these be swapped?

You can swap the engine but it's recommended that the original engine wiring and ecm be used to prevent ghost issues and headaches from attempting to repin the chassis harness to the new ecm. Proper custom tuning can get the 2350 ecm to run the 2250 block/hardware.

It is likely better investment to just rebuild the CM2350 and invest in having it done right, according to these specs...

Second to that, the CM2250 engine can be swapped into a vehicle that has a 2350 engine in it. Only thing that needs to happen is to use the vehicles original 2350 ecm and wiring harness, installed onto the the complete 2250 engine (2250 turbo, injectors, and all), and then a custom program made to run the older model engine.

Keeping the original vehicle ecm (2350 in this case) and simply re-programming to it runs a 2250 engine is a far easier solution than trying to adapt a 2250 ecm, having to re-wire everything going to the vehicle.

I think the fuel rail pressure sensor will need to be swapped over as well, as the 2350 harness has a different plug for the fuel pressure sensor.

A 2350 ecm will run all the 2250 hardware, but the 2250 engine itself internally is very different than a 2350. It has a different compression ratio, different injectors, different injector trim logic, etc. ... so that is why a custom program has to be made.

The season is over so I’ve got some time to open up my 2350 and see what’s up in there.
