10W30 in the X15 ?

The X15 Says it takes 10W30 so here's a dumb question..... should I do what it says or can I use 15W40 since I have barrels of it? And why does it want 10W30 anyway?

I would think 15w40 would be better in hot ambient temps and hard pulling, however make sure whatever 15w40 you have meets Cummins x15 standards so it doesn’t mess up the after treatment system,

I am curious on how the x15 is working out so far, do you have any miles on it, also what’s the rating and is it different from older isx engines with drivability ect

Ordered the truck this week, build date is mid June :dodgy: so gonna be a while before I have it. It's 565 hp 1850 torque. I guess I'll be one of the guinea pigs with this thing.It doesn't have EGR or even much of an after treatment system from what I understand. Hopefully that's a plus when it's time to de-mandate.

it definitely has egr, a doc, dpf, and scr. instead of 2 cans its just 1 all in one can. it has a soot sensor, an intake throttle valve, and a all in one turbo.

i havent heard any major issues yet but again they are very new, deleted or stock.

This is a direct quote from cummins. They say no EGR. And like you said the after treatment system is an all in one now.

Removing Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) allowed us to realize the full potential of the engine for Stage V without increasing displacement size. Our 12-liter engine already pointed the way forward for a successful EGR-free design at Stage IV, so we were able to cascade this simpler approach down through the power range. No EGR also means there is less to cool, which will help lower the cost of OEM integration,” said Jim Fier, Cummins Vice President – Engineering, speaking at the Bauma engine reveal.

He is talking about off-road engines, however even the 15 litre off-road equivalent qsx15 to the on road x15 or isx still uses egr scr and dpf, I believe 12 litres and down the they can get away without egr, but that is only the off-road version, the on highway versions all still use egr hear in North America, however over in Australia they have been running what they cal the isx e5 for a few years, that engine does not have egr and dpf but has scr.
