Just after anyones thoughts on filters and the different brands.
Whats the best to use ect.
I have had Baldwin filters on many trucks and no problems yet. I recently switched to 10 micron filter in the Davco filter housing. Good thing since I only run cheap fuel from small truck stops. I couldnt get the same filter # as Rawze, but the PF9814 is rated for 10 micron. 5,000 miles on it and truck seems to have as much power as the 50 micron filter OEM.
I have one of the washable foam Fleet-Aire filters on my Prostar, and when washing it there is a lot of dirt that washes out. Been using it about 100k now and when I replace my cylinder head in a couple weeks I will take some pics the dirt that passes thru the foam filters and my engine breathes.

I'm in Aus and have the choice of fleetgaurd,Donaldson or baldwin filters for air, lube and fuel.
Just wondering if you pay for a filter with a name on it or a name with some filtration in it.

Would it be posible to wrap an air filter in a washable foam like above?

* There are zero fuel mileage gains for using those filters vs standard filters.

* I have had more than one person say they have had cylinder polishing due to those filters.

* I set out a challenge to quite a few people who drive in dusty environments. Put a thick layer of grease into your pipe just past the washable cleaner, then check it in a month to see how much dust is getting past the filter. Then do the same for a paper filter. - Most report they will not be using those washable filters any more after seeing the difference.

I have never used one myself, this is just what others have reported to me when doing so.
There is rumor flying around that baldwin oil filters for ISX will not hold up to higher pressures if you have a modified oil pump.

I personally don't trust them as the o-ring located in the center of the filter housing has been found inside oil jet nozzles on the ISX and engine failure has resulted.

I really like the idea of a washable Pre-filter, but these foam filter elements have to be oiled to catch dirt with

Maybe the oil will damage the paper filters underneath.
I never saw this one available last year....What do you think?

That K&N reminds me of all season tires they work great till you get into some snow. how long could it last. paper is cheap and it's cheap to clean if you want to go that route.
