I think my transmission or clutch is going. It’s shifting at very irregular rpms. It will go as low as 600 rpm in high gear without stalling and I know that’s not normal. I just down shifted and it went as high as 2000 rpm and hasn’t done that before either. Can anyone narrow it down between the clutch or transmission for me. Thanks
Your description sounds like a slipping clutch.
Check/adjust pedal travel , linkage,inspect clutch.
If still slipping = clutch time
Do you know how much that is
Few grand shop I go to puts in 2050 tq clutches in even if truck is 1650 as theyve seen them last longer than at spec clutches
Clutch adjust at a good shop if all your parts are good maybe 50-100 bucks with no repairs
What’s the average cost of labor to check the clutch. I don’t want to get overpriced
Is this a automatic?
My guess is parts cost about 900 for a standard tranny. Some say 10 hours of labor.
For a clutch.

My clutch parts cost around 2850. Then 14 hours of labor. For an automatic.
if your clutch doesnt need any new parts and only needs adjusting a good tech can adjust a clutch in 30minutes but youll probably be charged an hour. so figoure an hours labor in the range of 90-150 per hour depending on the shop.
