I'm no rocket scientist, but I sure would want to see under there. Let us know what you find. Hopefully all is well in there. Finger's crossed for you man, these trucks are a real nerve racker. Popping baby aspirin here...

Wow! Good luck man! These things are nerve rackers! Does the baby aspirin help? Lol

Yes, the baby aspirin helps. ;-)
At 1.1 mil miles, i hope the rod and main bearings have been replaced at last once by now. Otherwise you will likely get a nasty surprise one day when a piston goes through the block with no warning whatsoever.

overhead should be run every 100k miles or so too, to catch if the head is ready to go.

yup I forgot to mention it was actually inframed within the last 100k and was overheaded when I had the injectors replaced before Christmas last year.

I hope they replaced the head with a new one. Otherwise it will not likely last very long.

the old one was rebuilt but I am looking at replacing it within a few months when I have extra money saved up just incase a head replacement turns into in an inframe. Update got the damper off.
Kinda funny, one of the first things the shop asked me when I took my truck in for an in frame, was about the Damper... I replaced mine 200,000 miles ago, thanks to this website... ;-)
A few pictures of the work involved.
Took about 2.5 hours at pilot truck stop in 100 degree weather going slow and easy.
$550 at cummins southern plains in tx.
18mm socket.
Breaker bar with an extension to take off.
130 ft pounds torque.
Mine came off kinda easy off the shaft.
Used the 4 bolts to wedge it back into the crank shafts.
Not sure if your supposed to paint it but I'd rather not.
You might want to paint it and mark it well where all the alignment points are before it rusts up so bad that you cannot find them.

Nice pics by the way.
