Yep, you will need to paint, as they rust rather quickly. And remember to mark the timing marks like Rawze stated.

cummins refuses to warranty them if they are not painted. it says this in big bold letter on the paperwork you get with them in the box.
Hmm, I thought it was strange not to get additional instructions in the box for something like this.

Replaced mine yesterday. Big difference. Thanks for this post. And I did paint it with official Cummins paint.
This couldn't up at a better time. I was getting on here to find out about this, and there it is. WOW now if the link to a video would just pop, I might just play the lottery.
I was thinking of making a video about the damper but best left to the professionals.
Still looking for instruction on this.
So PP says the OEM dampers are inferior to theirs. Can anyone confirm or deny that claim?
