CM870's do not have a crank case filter to help collect oil fumes like newer model engines do. The crank case fumes vent directly into that tube.

How much oil get out is totally dependant on how old the engine is and how much blo-by there is.

I got to thinking about this some more and realized that I was only seeing a little smoke come out of the hose every once in a while and a little oil residue but now it’s constant smoke and more oil.What could have changed?

Not a very good video but once I turn on the flashlight you can see the smoke towards the bottom.
Looks a little excessive. Do this and see what you get

Here’s a daytime video.The smoke is a little harder to see on this one but when I move the camera closer you can see it.
Personally I don't see anything alarming
