I ordered a new rear seal and it came with a plastic spacer? ring ( see pic). I am a little confused what this is for, Does this allow me to install the seal with a soft hammer instead of the special tool?

register the engine ser# on quickserv.com.. and follow the instructions for replacing the seal.

The plastic spacer fits inside the seal installer and meets the flywheel housing to set the depth of the seal. Sure you could use it as-is with a hammer, but for the work involved in redoing it.... I would consider paying a mechanic, friend or dealer to come out with the right tools and install it correctly.

Amazon also has the tool needed. I've used mine twice. It works fantastic.
