Detroits will handle a lot of rpm. The entire reciprocating assembly is very light weight and the stroke is relatively short. My friend Herb is a S60 loon and has a hot rodded Detroit and pulls hills at 32-3300rpm. Some place in CA did the ecm with mapping to 3600rpm. It won't be far behind my Cat up a mountain but will be turning more than twice the rpm. His is not a reliable setup, hydro locked once and had a runaway turbo on the 301 in FL. Been torn apart 3 times in last two years. |
