I do not encourage people to use a sealant that hardens .. because I have seen too many times, the passage way for the oil back to the regulator (across the mack side of the engine cover) get a flake in it, and causing some serious harm. - Someone needs to well keep that in mind if they do use a sealant that hardens.

personally, I just make sure the cover and all mating surfaces are very flat ans clean.. and then maybe use a light dusting of anti-sieze on the gasket so that it seats well, rubber stays malliable, etc.
