course that doesn't explain the engine running like total garbage it could have popped an exhaust valve and it went out through the turbo

Checked both. No leaks and fully attached.

Mechanical things do not heal themselves. They only get worse if you ignore problems, or keep driving it when something is wrong. A few more dollars in freight is just not worth loosing the whole engine over.
