Im starting to consider the pump but everything I've learned and experienced has always the pump issue would cause LOW oil pressure. Do you know if there is a valve or something actually inside the filter housing that fails.......other than the pressure relief valve? Do you think something where the filter goes could create back pressure into the engine?

- Not sure about an A26 .. but on a ciummins ISX... the pump pushes oil thru the whole system, and a supply line from the cylinder head goes back down (on the back side of the front gear cover) to the regulator back at the pump as a feedback to regulate the pressure/flow. Any blockage at the passage from the cylinder head down the back side of the gear cover would cause pressure to spike.
