2010 KW possible bad cecu - Bigmack713 - 06-22-2025

Hello all, I recently lost my turn signals headlights and washer functions. I've read some threads and have checked fuses and relays. Also checked power and ground to the cecu under the cup holder. All seems to be fine. This truck has always had issues what speedometer and tachometer not working. But I fear that the cecu might have gone bad altogether. Is there any other test to conduct to completely eliminate other issues before I purchase a new cecu? I heard about a chassis node, but I cannot find it. Please advise. Thank you in advance

I've been trying to find the chassis node.but haven't had any luck.does someone have a picture of what it looks like?or a part number?is this truck even equipped with a chassis node ?I called the dealership and they told me to start checking the cecu first.

No chassis node on a 2010, they were introduced for model year 2012 iirc.

My first thought is a possible issue with the multi function switch/stalk since the functions you are having issues with all have controls on it. If someone can plug in and connect to the CECU with ESA software they can check all inputs, etc. to the CECU and see any faults it might have stored.
But it could also be a CAN wiring issue inside the dash. They are common to rub wires through down where everything bends behind and goes to the upper part of the dash from the CECU.

I've only ever had to replace one CECU that was bad and I've been working on majority KW/Pete for the last 10+ years. Many wiring issues though, typically within 18in. of the CECU.

I did take dash apart.but didn't see anything obviously chaffed or rubbed through.since the last 3 years of owning the truck,My tach has never really worked properly, speedometer also acts up sometimes.the digital display sometimes freezes and comes back after the truck has been of for 15 minutes.this latest issue started since we got some heavy rains and water dripped on top of dash from the windshield not being sealed properly..my windshield guy was having a problem working around the visor and left a small spot without silicone.
Since the water dripping on the dash , sometimes I step on the brakes and blinker comes on , or washer functions comes on , like they were being powered at the same time

Only thing not on the switch is the hazards which also don't work

Cecu will be under cupholder
I took mine out as it was shutting itself off with the heat of summer.
So I looked at the three harnesses that plug into it for an obvious problem and found some green on power spade on cecu side, it’s the smaller square port closest to driver seat. I was also able to lift it a little higher off the abs module an secure it,and hasn’t shut off yet since.
Also the other module is behind dash for your other functions also changed that on my 2010 for your same reasons, I can send you a part number

To add to that now that I remember more there was a $2 relay burnt on the control board in the cecu which you can check. I took it to a retired electrical engineer who found it.
