What gear oil - Mav - 03-03-2018

What gear oil do I add at pm for a cm870. Thank you

80 90 gl 5 is what I use. Probably shouldn’t use gl5 but that’s what Walmart has. I think new gl 5 doesn’t eat brass.

Sta-Lube SL24239 API/GL-4 Multi-Purpose Hypoid Gear Oil - 1 gal https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000M8RYMC?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

This is what I use in my CM870 a gallon every 10 thousand miles.

I’ve been kinda wondering on this gl 5. Feed back would be cool.

Magard look inder Rawze technical documents.
Why I add 12% (one gallon) of gear lube at every oil change...

Read on brother, it'll have more than enough info for you to make an informed decision.

I’m running a gallon of gear oil. It’s gl 5 because it hard to find gl 4. I’m wondering what the friction modifiers do in the oil. There made to not be too slippery for the limited slip clutches in a reared.

RE: What gear oil - superbug - 03-08-2018

OK, dumb question... Supertech GL5 at Walmart for $13 a gal or the Sta-lube GL4 at Amazon for $39.

Is the GL4 that much better?
