This is the one most of us use here... I do, works fine, had it for around five years. Insite software comes with it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Cummins-INLINE-6-Data-Link-Adapter-truck-heavy-duty-diagnostic-obdii-scanner/123742287676?hash=item1ccf9d773c:g:zAIAAOSwIJlZ9U~7

I use this to just read the codes, it won’t clear them but if ya fix the underlying issue the fault code will go inactive or clear itself anyway.

Just get an old laptop wipe it clean and install insite. Then don't use it for anything but working on your engine, don't surf the interweb and hang out on pornhub with it.
If you have a cummins you NEED insite!! Not ANYTHING else. Just buy the inline adapter that waterloo linked for you and call it a day. It does all diagnostic tests, read/clear codes, forced regen's, dpf resets, computer reflashing, etc. Anything else you buy won't be as good and will probably cost a LOT more.
