Headlights upgrades Hi guys!!! I considering to buy eld bulbs. My are really bad, original:). Even small personal cars have better light then my Big truck ( International Prostar 2011) Who had experience with that. Please share. Thank you in advance! | |||

RE: Headlights upgrades I have an '09 ProStar. I used a headlight restore kit, less than $20. Polished them up like brand new. With normal bulbs, 9006 & 9005, I think my headlights are fine. | |||

RE: Headlights upgrades Few things to remember with HID's. Durability is lower and power consumption higher than LED. However, I agree that LED headlights bulbs kind of suck if the lens wasn't originally intended to use them (like they were originally designed for halogen). In this case I would go HID. Use HID's with a headlight intended for or compatible with them. DONT put them into a standard housing, because yes you will blind everyone! If they aren't in the proper fixture, instead of having that cut off line to keep your lights out of oncoming traffic, you will have a light just recklessly putting light out EVERYWHERE, including people's eyes. Say no to China! Carry spare bulbs. Don't touch the bulbs with your bare hands. Expect to replace the bulbs fairly often with HID's. Say no to China! Don't give up the brights. Say no to China! If you replace the lens, make sure it's marked DOT on the outside. Say no to China! Go for white light, not yellow, not blue, not purple. For me it was right around 4000k. When the light starts turning blue, or some people call it daylight, It's been my experience that the light intensity goes down. RE: Headlights upgrades Those will do nothing but glare and blind oncoming traffic. In my experience, LED headlight bulbs suck all around. They get hot and rely on a tiny computer fan to keep cool, when the fan goes the light dies. This is a commercial vehicle, not an old Honda Civic you want to soup up. CHEAP LED and HID put off light differently and WILL NOT FUNCTION IN A HALOGEN HOUSING. It will be bright to look at but you'll be doing nothing but scattering light everywhere. Your visibility will actually be REDUCED and you'll be blinding everyone. Nobody wins. Polish the lens really good to bring back some optical clarity using a kit like the 3M headlight restoring kit and then use a good quality HALOGEN bulb. That's what your housings were made for. Follow Brock's links to find out about his BiXenon Retrofit. VERY good performance out of that setup and you won't blind everyone you meet on the road. I'm planning on doing it to my T660 headlights. | |||
