RE: ISB 6.7 CM2150 problem (04-30-2024 )Notch Wrote: I've had a customer's 6.7 in a RAM pickup that they suspected an employee had filled the diesel tank with gasoline. The truck ran poorly, would hardly rev, had some audible knocking/detonation noises when running, and had a ton of grey smoke from the exhaust. The big red flag for what was causing the issue was when the fuel filter cap on the engine was removed you were overwhelmed by the smell of gasoline. Surprisingly enough, a fresh tank of diesel and 2 new fuel filters and the truck ran fine and they drove it away. GOOD INFO... but now it also points towards ... if it is de-mandated, .. it will also 100% be likely to have a bad, engine killing de-mandate program in it too. RE: ISB 6.7 CM2150 problem So I was looking at this again with Insite. Everything is still the same with the following observations: RPM's will not go above 1100, engine sputters and stumbles, but will go back to idling great. Grey smoke mostly on acceleration. Intake manifold pressure still at 0.0inHg 0.63v. Does not change Fuel rail pressure will not go above 19k, except it goes to 24k on leakage test Fuel pump actuator - position Closed. Current stays 1375mA drops to 1250mA upon acceleration Turbo Commanded equals Measured - 31% to 65%max Turbo Actuator Position Sensor Voltage always 0v Turbo Compressor IAT sensor stays at 2.13v only Turbo rpm up to 19k down to 6594 steady Engine oil pressure 0v but gauge works No boost (you can hold your hand over the outlet and it will not push your hand away) I have done the following: Changed turbo actuator, realigned gear, and calibrated with Insite Disassembled turbo, cleaned everything thoroughly, and made sure vane ring and lever moves freely. Compressor spins great Drained fuel and installed new filters New IAT Demandated everything and properly tuned Insite tests: Cutout test fine. All cylinders will reduce RPM approx 50rpm upon cutout Cylinder performance test all pass EFC Actuator override test - position open Am I missing something or do I just need to throw some money at it with a new turbo? Thx!

RE: ISB 6.7 CM2150 problem You say this is is a RAM truck? How did you calibrate the turbo actuator with insite? The RAM's that I've been able to connect to with insite still would not allow me to calibrate the turbo actuator. They also showed data that wasn't always accurate. Some of the values you listed might not be correct because insite doesn't process the data properly on RAM cummins. What year is this truck?

RE: ISB 6.7 CM2150 problem How much of the turbo did you take apart when you cleaned it? The shaft has to be high speed balanced with special equipment. If its not balanced and maybe not turning as free as it should that could be your problem.

RE: ISB 6.7 CM2150 problem I didn't remove the shaft or compressor wheels. I used brake cleaner and compressed air to clean under and around those. Mostly I worked on the vanes and the gears until it moved freely, and cleaned the soot out of the housings
