Fuel used at idle? Just out of curiosity has anyone sat down and figured how much fuel is used during idle time? I have done it twice on two different trucks and the number came out to be close to the same on both. I'm not sure exactly how much fuel is used I know I don't belive for a second the b.s. 1 gal an hour.

RE: Fuel used at idle? If you have access to calterm, monitor the live fueling rate and do the maths there. You'll get the exact amount that way.

RE: Fuel used at idle? I have a 2013 ISX 2250 in my Volvo. If the turbo is spooled up at idle, I'm guessing to heat the DPF, it uses almost 2 gallons an hour. If the turbo is at rest, the engine uses 0.6 gallons an hour at idle. User's Signature: 2013 Volvo 670 with Big Red under the hood

RE: Fuel used at idle? Mine varies but its around half gallon per hour. If I bump up the idle it gets around the one gallon mark.
