I agree with you all except what you said about Ryder, I worked there for 3 years and Ryder actually has a very extensive service plan for their trucks that they actually stick to very well. If you are renting/leasing a truck from them and pm time comes up then they are on the phone making you bring that truck in. The problem is their mechanics. Most of the guys take a short cut here and a short cut there and they don’t care that if they didn’t grease one part on this service and if it doesn’t get greased again till the next service then it just went 30,000 miles with no grease. They hire complete idiots with no experience , send them to a pm class, a tire class, and a safety class and turn them loose on trucks….. but their service intervals and the items that their services cover are actually spot on. They even have their dpf filters and doc’s baked every so many services, every so many services the entire aftertreatment system is inspected and tested by mechanics that were heavily trained in aftertreatment… I can vouch for this because I’ve done the training myself. It’s probably the only training Ive been through with a company that wasn’t a complete waste of time…. They even beat egr cleaning and health in your head. Ryder actually does their parts with their trucks. What makes the difference is the mechanics choices when they are working on them but that falls in with any company. Also when Ryder sells a truck everything is checked…. Absolutely everything. Even engine compression. If there is an issue with a truck it is supposed to be fixed. But once again that falls on the mechanic and whether he speaks up about it. I would say 80% do their job properly. So once again it’s not that Ryder as a company is out to f*** anyone. They actually want to do right….. don’t think I’m defending them. I don’t like the company for personal reasons. I’m just laying out the facts about them. RE: Oil sample not looking good. Had some 2015 Volvo's leased from ryder at my last job. They consistently did PM's around the 30k mi mark. Don't know first hand what oil they used though. I'm sure not every single location and/or account is serviced the same, but I only know what I saw and heard from their mechanics up here in CT and that was enough to prevent me from looking at their used trucks when I started shopping around. RE: Oil sample not looking good. Will doing the gear oil addition have any side effects on intact emissions? I'll start doing that as well with changing to Rotella or Delo. Currently searching for some one reliable to pull the bearings. Proving hard to find more then a basic parts changer here. May end up doing it myself but trying to maintain my warranty as they are supposedly a covered item.

The same additives that we get from mixing in the gear oil were purposefully removed from the motor oil because they weren't good for the DPF's longevity. I'll grab some and maybe drain some oil now to go ahead and add it.

Why I always used the 80/90 lol User's Signature: Repairing Demandates 1 Truck At A Time
