Odd issue…ecm overheating? 2010 KW, 1.17m miles, ecm @ 5661 hrs. @m*m^2 years ago by the man. Ever since it has gotten hotter outside, I’ve had an issue with the engine randomly dropping boost and giving me a stop engine light and returning to idle while driving. It idles with no accelerator pedal response for a one to 30 seconds, then recovers. I’ve checked serial data line integrity, checked for 60 ohms from the terminating resistors, power and ground…possible shorts, etc. I even used my backup Cummins actuator when I replaced the turbo for having a stiff VG arm. What I discovered today is that while my truck normally runs at 170 unloaded, it will run close to 190 loaded with the A/C on because of the outside temp… which is when the malfunctions occur. If I turn on the fan, it cools back to 170 and the issues go away. Normally it runs at 170 with the fan on at idle, comes on around 205. Cooling system is full, radiator, water pump and related components all done with OEM when inframed at 927k. Should I maybe pull the ecm and use heat sink paste behind it to the cooler plate? Or should I plan on replacing the ecm because it is thermally sensitive? User's Signature: 2010 T2000, CM871, 13spd, 1.173m, tanker yanker Overhauled @ 927k

RE: Odd issue…ecm overheating? The ecm itself should not be that sensitive. What are all the active and inactive faults in the ecm?. User's Signature: ->: What I post is just my own thoughts and Opinions! --- I AM Full Of S__T!.

RE: Odd issue…ecm overheating? What you described sounds like it is loosing signal from the throttle position sensor. The codes stored in the ECM will give more insite.
