It is considered normal, unless it is excess soot caused by a stuck open EGR valve, maybe destroying your cam and clogging oil filters. Rawze does custom tuning that can make your truck run cleaner while getting more mpg.

I know rawze does custom tuning. Really gotta get down in his area. Haven't clogged any filters. Did clean out of e.g.r. last month. Wasn't bad at all. The first one I did. I came out looking like al sharpton. Took a day to get soot out of my skin on hands.
When cummins had it last week. They fixed egr. Valve housing gasket. Egr valve functions properly. Still have worn cam but that ve fixed soon. Already shopping for bypass oil filter. Goal, this truck goes over million. Cause after that. It getting rebuilt. No more new trucks.
