RE: Hypothetical question about a fan clutch I would say that is a high risk. If something lets loose and it takes out a belt, you could be looking at a lot of damage to front structure and radiator. In any event, if you decide to do something like that to get you off the side of the road, you should also likely keep rpm low and pray like hell. lol Could you not remove the air off it and smack it with hammer a bit to get it to engage one last time? - or did it burn out the clutch pads? - Seems it would be cheaper/safer to go buy some tools and replace it in the nearest truck stop parking lot.
