I’d attach a pic for you all to make fun of me but hey at least I’m trying to learn the ways of the wrench turning truck driver! I picked up the back pressure sensor but didn’t have the 27mm socket with me so I’ll get it in the morning. Wish me luck!
Be sure to spray a bit of brake cleaner in the sensor hole while the sensor is off of it and crank the truck, let it fire up for a moment to ensure it blows the brake cleaner back up out of the hole ... that circuit for the exhaust pressure sensor likes to get blocked up with carbon buildup.
Appreciate all the info. Changed both which 100% needed to be done but not much changed with it. Turbo still spooling up and fuel mileage stunk again today. Even though the actuator is new could the turbo itself be bad? I haven’t checked for play yet. Checked paperwork, egr cooler was inspected and cleaned about 100k ago and rechecked two weeks ago. Y’all have scared me about oil consumption so it’s getting a compression check and cut out injector test done Tuesday morning. My buddy (head mechanic at ups) ran the diagnostics while we were under a load. Ash level 0, soot was 22g and within an hour it was at 97g and started to regen again. It was 12k miles before I put any oil in it so he’s strongly thinking I have 1 or 2 injectors over fueling. It does occasionally have somewhat of a hard start, then next time it start soon as I hit the key.
Good, bad or ugly I’ll let ya guys know what the good ol diagnostics say! Thanks again!
guarantee you the rest of the truck was just as neglected.
