Idling the truck will momentarily cut off then turn back on. When it does turn off traction/stability control lights come on and the trip, miles and temp disappear from from gouges. Def gauge read empty and when I slammed the door out of frustration everything came back on...

when you narrow it down let us know what it is + maybe some pics ... so that the next guy will not have to suffer the same fate?

have you tried smacking the ecm with something (almost hard enough to dent it but not quite denting it) and see if it cuts out?. The older CM871 ecm's were bad about that after they have 8+ years of service life on them... and/or if the crank shaft damper was not changed at 500k miles like it should be, and the extra engine vibration finally got it. This goes back to lack of any proper engine care/maintenance, past changing the damned oil.
