Red engines need regular maintenance and tune-up work (egr piping/sensors cleaned out yearly, overhead valve adjustments, etc.) for them to stay happy. You cannot neglect them or its DPF/emissions system problem city.

That being said, an 'Inline 6' adapter is needed so that your computer can to talk to ecm is a must, along with the Insite and Calterm softwares.

The Softwares itself can be had for free if someone looks in the right places on the interwebs, and the inline-6 adapter can be from china for a couple hundred bucks, or an official one, does not matter.
