RE: 2016 DD13 GHG17 Cascadia - DPF filter longevity
40 000km is way way way too long oil change interval especially on mandated engine.

How the engine looks inside? Really nasty and sooty?

I buy my oil usally in 208l drums. I use cheap 10w40 semi sythetic oldschool truck oil with added gear lube in all my equipment - mandated or pre mandate diesel cars, mini excavator, telehandler, even toys like PWC that have 1.5l 260hp supercharged gasoline engine. I used to buy 15w40 mineral, but it is not stocked anymore at the place where I buy oil and drum of 10w40 costs 10 bucks more than 15w40 drum. Winters can get -25c in my area that is also why I chose 10w40 this time. That super fancy fully symthetic oil costs 2-4x more, I buy cheap 15w40 mienral or 10w40 semi synthetic and do 2-4x more oil changes.

I used to run 15w40 in early 2000s diesel german cars year round even at winter for like last 7 years without any issues, also even to this day 15w40 oil in on oldschool diesel loader 12valve 5.9 engine is working with that oil for more than 15 years, max 2000hr farm use time, in it's former life it had 30 000 hours, no rebuilds, worked in a mine, had pretty hard life. Most likely it had 15w40 in it since day one.
