From what I was told, yes it has the same pump. But, Cummins isolated it, so that when it fails, it will not take out the motor. Still criminal in my book.

Sad thing though, those new pumps still fail. You need to still rebuild every 300,000 to 400,000 miles. And no telling when they will fail, it may be much sooner. Not good.

It's old 3 barrel pump converted into 2 barrel. Pump will work just fine with steel plungers and updated tappets.

I don't get it. I was under the impression that I can not rebuild my 3 cylinder pump with the updated parts? I just paid $ on a clean used pump and gaskets as this is this weeks project.

Yes $500 on parts every 300,000-400,000 miles better than pay $30000 for another engine.

You need to check with cummins if 3 cylinder pump rebuild kit available. Plunger and barrel assembly has different part numbers on 2250 and 2350. And you cannot mix them. Otherwise you will damage the pump. Oil and fuel will mix.
If not, you will have to put 2 cylinder pump with updated fuel lines.
I would recomend to buy old 2 cylinder pump and buy $500 internal parts( new barrel plunger and tappets) and rebuild it. It will be cheapier thsn $3000-4000 on new pump.

I always wonder that as on quickserve only shows my 3 cylinder pump. The 2 cylinder pump has been rebuilt by me with new updated parts. Gasket for installing it on the engine is on the way but leads me to the fuel lines... part number 3688398 is one of the fuel lines I need. Is there also a support bracket I need? thanks

If I recall correctly, you can use two of the two cylinder pump kits to rebuild your three cylinder pump. Or just buy a new two cylinder pump and install.

absolutely right Mr. Waterloo, mine is newer two cylinder type and has 205,000 miles and yep it had ceramic plungers and they shattered and went through engine :-(
