I've never hauled machines like that so I can't say what would be correct, but I see that all the time and it never sits right with me. Usually by construction companies hauling their own equipment. Depending on the weight it might be legal, but sure doesn't seem safe to me. User's Signature: "...And as we wind on down the road, Our Shadows taller than our Soul..."

RE: What would you have done differently?? I was coming out of the Twin cities eastbound last year and had to snap this pic. I could not see any straps at all when I came up behind this truck. User's Signature: Born and raised in Vyskonsin on milk, cheese, bread, and beer!

Please keep them coming. If even one guy learns something from this it'll have been worth all the discussion. Wow, I'll bet that ding bat thinks that counts as 4 chains too. WRONG!!! And just for guys that don't know the tracks on the machine are not transport rated and attaching them like that or any other way that the metal could bend and let the chain go is DEADLY WRONG. Just Google "excavator comes off trailer" and you'll see it happens a lot more than you'd think. I saw a very large one come off on the Baltimore beltway. It makes quite the mess.

Went a little further and seen a large excavator laying upside down in the ditch! Right past that I came under those large overpasses with the large heavy steel I-beam’s and seen one of them was basically tore in half! Holy sh!t I still think to this day the force it took to do that damage to the bridge like that! Guy was not having a good day.... So far overloaded that the rear end is riding on the tires and the front end barely touches the road. Then to top it off they are usually betting on gravity and god to secure their load! RE: What would you have done differently?? I figured I'd try to keep life in this thread. Its truly a good one for open air freight guys. I ran up behind this clown on the Baltimore beltway last week. If you can't see how disgustingly wrong this is than you should never think about hauling flatbed freight. On a very minor bump I watched the rebar flex to about 1 foot from the ground. Anyone care to explain what all is wrong in this guy load?

I am not a flat-bed guy so this is just thoughts. User's Signature: ->: What I post is just my own thoughts and Opinions! --- I AM Full Of S__T!.
