Cummins Inline vs Nexiq, best CARB smog software Hello. Two questions. 1. Is Cummins Inline same device basically as Nexiq? 2. Just passed the test for the CARB heavy duty inspection and maintenance tester, looking for the best softeare to use, options are Silver Snap-Tool DAWN OBD Inspector Truck Check Up DPA Inspect Not sure if anyone has any experience with this, but since its now required in CA, no real way to avoid it Another question would be, will a demandated engine be an issue? I have never ran the software.

They are BOTH fully RP1210a compliant towards troubleshooting equipment. For ECM flashing itself... - Nexiq is more expensive, but will let someone flash CAT, Detroit, Cummins, Etc.etc. ... but the Cummins adapters will generally only flash cummins engines. Price... - Cummins adapters ... including the chineesuim fakes work great. They can be had off the webs for less than $200 bucks these days. - Nexiq however are far more expensive, and the chineesium fakes that are sold all over the interwebs will not live very long, are flaky, etc. .. so if someone wants Nexiq, then they need to seek out a local dealers%it like fleet-pride, etc... and buy a genuine Nexiq only. IE.> If all you got is vehicles with cummins engines in them, then the much cheaper Inline adapter is just fine. . RE: Cummins Inline vs Nexiq, best CARB smog software I don't have to worry about carb checks and all that where I am so I can't speak on the software you listed, but since you are asking about that you will probably want to get a nexiq USBlink 3 adapter. It supports all the newest protocols that new trucks are starting to use. The current Cummins inline adapter, inline 7 is a nexiq USBlink 2 that is made by nexiq for Cummins. Probably in the next 5 years it will not be supported any longer. Also note some software companies have their own proprietary adapters you must use with their software, so keep that in mind as well. (This is a practice I despise)
