Newer pump is two barrels and head has only 4 bolts. I actually did update my pump at 440,000miles on my cm2350. I put video on youtube how to replace internal parts. They are much cheapier than whole pump. I spent about $120 on barrel and plunger assembly kit and $300 on new design tappets. Here is link

Sad thing though, those new pumps still fail. You need to still rebuild every 300,000 to 400,000 miles. And no telling when they will fail, it may be much sooner. Not good.
Yes $500 on parts every 300,000-400,000 miles better than pay $30000 for another engine.
