i havent heard any major issues yet but again they are very new, deleted or stock.

This is a direct quote from cummins. They say no EGR. And like you said the after treatment system is an all in one now.

Removing Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) allowed us to realize the full potential of the engine for Stage V without increasing displacement size. Our 12-liter engine already pointed the way forward for a successful EGR-free design at Stage IV, so we were able to cascade this simpler approach down through the power range. No EGR also means there is less to cool, which will help lower the cost of OEM integration,” said Jim Fier, Cummins Vice President – Engineering, speaking at the Bauma engine reveal.

i can assure you that both the performance and economy X15's have EGR. I have stood beside and worked on quite a few of them now.

Ok, yeah looking at that picture it definitely has EGR.

The one thing I've heard they don't have is a dosser valve behind the turbo. They changed that system

They take 10w30 because of the amount of soot that is in the oil after so many miles. When I was a company driver we had 2011 Freightliner day cabs with ISX 2250 in them with 450 HP. They were actually very nice trucks for the most part. Only problem they were leased from Ryder and they insisted on 30,000 oil changes and with the attitude of their fleet managers they were more like 50,000 to 70,000 mile oil changes. I remember anytime we would say the truck needed a P.M. they would jump all over and us and try to give us the backhand for our actions against them. It was kind of sad I should say, glad I am taking care of my own truck these days.

If you look at the Cummins approved oils, 15w40 will be in there for that engine I'm sure.

The biggest reason why these engine manufacturers are using 10w30 oils is 100% because they need to meet EPA regulations for fuel mileage as well as oil change intervals and has nothing to do with it being good for the motor.

10w30 does not put less soot or ash through the emissions system then a 15w40. ... the viscosity has nothing to do with it, the reason people think that is because 10w30 is a semi synthetic/synthetic blend etc. If you compare a 15w40 synthetic you'd be in the same ballpark.

And then we have the internal damage these lighter oils cause, cam shafts do not play well with these low viscosity oils. Plenty of evidence for that, and one of the reasons many of us use the gear oil. These are now throw away motors, something most of us cannot afford. Criminal in my book.

So would you all just use rotella 15-40 in an X15??

If I owned one I would. i would also use a gallon of gear lube in it. However that is just me.

X15 performance-605-2050 heavy hauler.15-40 rottella swapped in after first oil change. 65k on it now with now issues if it matters to anyone
