RE: Front crank seal
Thought I'd revive this old thread as this is something I'll be doing before the end of the year. Another result of this cold snap has appeared to enhance this front crankshaft seal seep. Been having some build up around the area for awhile, but now has just touched the front right corner of the oil pan. Guess it's to be expected at almost 900k. Not a huge deal by any means, but I do not like leaks and will address any 'enhanced' seep before it actually becomes a leak.

- Would the part number (4918991) which Cummins recommends for the seal replacement/installation be a good part to use, or is there a better option available? I've seen the tool range from $250-450 depending on site and manufacturer.

- Also, front crank seal number 3685173 looks to be the correct part on QuickServe for anyone hunting for it.
