RE: What kind of Clutches are there?
As a side note - With the Volvo, you have to use a self adjusting clutch because of the slave cylinder. Hydraulic clutch pedals require self adjusting clutches. Eaton makes a 2050 self adjuster. Also, I made the mistake of not replacing a clutch on a Volvo that I own when I replaced the transmission. I tell everyone of my customers, put a clutch in every time we pull a transmission unless one was recently put in. I didn't take my own advice. I figured being a mechanic, I could manage the gamble. 6 months later it was out. I would also recommend motor mounts while the trans is out.

I only owned the Volvo because a friend got in a bind and it had a cummins. I sold it as soon as I could. My trucks are Petes. I only want quality trucks that are easier to work on.

2019 LT , might need to replace clutch, currently I have self adjusting, so what you're saying is I'm stuck with the self adjusting? I would like to put an easy pedal in .

How long did the self adjusting clutch last?. Why not go back with the same thing?.

You can use a manual adjustment clutch, even though your manufacturer states you cannot. The only reason they say that is for easier serviceability. All because the service port is smaller because of the hydraulic slave cylinder. My last truck (Volvo VNL) had an Eaton easy pedal manual adjustment clutch in it, and I didn’t have much of an issue adjusting it despite all this. I just used that simple 1/2 stainless steel steel rod to bring it in the spec when adjusting . Ran it that way for 450,000 miles before I sold it. I even changed out the clutch brake out on it once. On my current truck which is a 2015 International Prostar I plan on changing my clutch out to a Eaton easy pedal VCT clutch (Part # 308925-35) because my Eaton self adjusting clutch is getting kind of wonky and I do a lot of city driving using the clutch a lot.

My Volvo which has a hydraulic air assist clutch came with a solo clutch, put an easy pedal in it. You just got to adjust it when you start feeling the clutch brake not doing it's job.. whoever says you can't is full of it.
