It can be rebuilt but more time then not it's completely boat anchor trashed. These pumps are a nightmare scenario when they let loose. But the vast majority hold together just fine. The 400,000 mile service interval ensures that you'll catch a faulty one before it fails. This is the epitome of Preventative Maintenance. If you want to make sure you don't randomly trash your engine then you'll just do the pump rebuild/ replacement and keep on happily trucking not worrying about if it's a problem.
Cummins claims to have designed the X15 so that a pump failure won't trash the entire engine. I haven't heard of an X15 being boat anchored yet so it could be true.

so far, I do not trust this claim so much... simply because most of the older model CM2250/CM2350-x101 engines that I have seen that got trashed, the debris got past the oil filter too.

They did not re-design the pump itself as far as i know, so time will tell.
would 2011 isx 15 be a 2230? What does everyone think of the 2230 de-m@nd@t3d?
what I meant was: what does everyone think of the 2009-2011 ISX15 de-m@nd@t3d?
2009 and 2010 would be a cm 871, 2011 would be a cm 2250(maybe some early 2011 models were still 871 I'm not sure). Both are good if you know the pertinent information for each.
Can anyone send me a lead on where to get The fuel pump Rebuild kit for cm2350. I’ve called a few dealers and they can’t find any kit.

I am not sure a kit exists per say but I pieced mine together using part numbers from quick serve when I had to do it
Yeah I’m having a hard time finding the parts individually as well all they have is the 5406130 which I don’t think has the tappets or barrel and plunger I do believe it said that has 3 items which were spring, seal, & washer that’s the only available items im able to find.
