Opinion: For filtration--YES,...For extended oil drains---NO!
I agree with Cummins that extended oil changes are not so good for the engine to some extent. Most bypass oil systems for these type of engines are sold with the promise of spending less money on oil changes. While I agree that extra filtering is very good for these engines, and feel that it is absolutely necessary for any EGR engine, the extended oil change claims, I do not agree with.
My own truck even has a bypass oil filter on it. I installed a less expensive $350 Amsoil bypass system to help combat the soot that was constantly getting into my oil. If your running an engine with EGR, then by all means, any system designed to lower soot levels in your oil will help the motor by a large amount. What I do not agree with, is extended oil changes.

ok,i'm looking at the amsoil system because of your recommendation.what part number do i need, and what's in the system that comes with the filter?

What is the difference between this and the 350$ unit?
The 120 filter will not fit this filter head.
It's for the EABP90, EABP100 & EABP110, bypass filters, small car and truck gas and diesel engines.
90 up to 15 Qts., 60,000 miles, 600 Hrs., 2 yrs.
100 up to 18 Qts. 70,000 miles, 800 Hrs., 2 yrs.
110 up to 24 Qts. 80, 000 miles, 1200 Hrs., 2 yrs.

This is for small engines, gas or diesel's,
Amsoil BMK21, is for the fallowing bypass Amsoil filters.
EABP90 - Adds 1 QTs+ of oil, good for up to 15QTs system, 60,000 miles, 600 Hrs. or 2 yrs.
EABP100 - Adds 1.5 QTs+ of oil, good for up to 18QTs system, 70,000 miles, 800 Hrs. or 2 yrs.
EABP110 - Adds 2 QTs+ of oil, good for up to 24QTs system, 80,000 miles, 1200 Hrs. or 2 yrs.
15 Quarts = 3.75 gallons, 18 Quarts = 4.5 gallons, 24 Quarts = 6 gallons.
The $350.00 unit, BMK30 kit uses the EABP 120 bypass filter.
EABP120 - Adds 4QTs+ of oil, good for 24 to 60 Quarts system, up to 120,000 miles, 1800 Hrs., 1yr.
Instead of paying the piper on these over rated over priced bypass systems why not use a high velocity dual flow oil filter from {garbage after-market brand oil filter} for example an isx cm2350 takes a {part# removed} it has a 5 micron nominal and 20 micron absolute rating. And change your oil according to Rawze's chart. Just my 2 cents... No rocket science involved
What a warm welcome to the forum! I am absolutely not advocating for Baldwin filters whatsoever. I was just using the micron numbers for an example. never got brainwashed or drank any bad kool aid I'll look into getting some fleetguards. STOP YELLING!!!
